Our Community Commitment
As part of the Newcastle and greater Hunter community, we support a number of community initiatives.
Interplast plastic and reconstructive surgery in Asia Pacific
Interplast sends team of plastic surgeons and related health professionals to countries across the Asia-Pacific area to help people who would not otherwise be able to afford surgery. These include children with birth defects such as cleft palates and traumatic injuries such as burns. This year we donated over $1000 to Interplast and are looking at hands-on ways our team could be involved in the future.
Breast cancer and breast reconstruction
We also support breast reconstruction and breast cancer fundraising. In 2016 we ran our Pink Ribbon team events for the 7th year in a row, donating over $800 to breast cancer research.
Jodie’s Place Refuge
We are also proud supporters of Jodie’s Place Refuge near Cessnock. Our involvement started when our Practice Director, Amber Moncrieff, heard about the service struggling after a break-in and discovered they had no website or on-line donations facility. Amber established both, funding them until 2018. The team then got involved with fundraising, as did our patients by providing positive ‘selfies’ of themselves post-procedure for a $10 donation made by Hunter Plastic Surgery as part of our empowered selfies campaign. In total, we have donated over $1000 in the last year.
Variety – the children’s charity
In 2016 we donated a CoolSculpting transformation to the Variety Radiothon on NXFM which raised over $4300 for children with rare disorders in the Hunter.
